The Nine Circles (based on The Inferno by Dante Alighieri)

Beyond me is where the woeful lie,
A place for evil people who die;
A place you’ve never seen before,
Where the dead beg to die once more.

The souls I imprison chose to be bad,
Through their actions alone in the life they had;
Now they forever cry in pain,
Crying out the Lord’s name in vain
But the Lord has no sympathy for those,
                                      In The Inferno.

The Souls in Limbo have not really sinned,
Whereas the lustful forever twirl in the wind;
The Gluttons home is just a sewer,
Where they forever cower in their manure;
Hoarders and wasters forever battle,
                                       In The Inferno.

The wrathful and sullen live in the Marsh of Styx,
Where you’ll have to pass over to the City of Dis;
Where Rebellious Angels curse the Lord’s name,
For beating them at their own game.
What once were beautiful are now hideous beasts
                                       In The Inferno.

The next circle is located right below Dis,
For violent men and woman who received deaths kiss;
From the River of Blood to the Burning Sand,
And where the suicidal are trees across the land;
Now the tormentors have become tormented,
                                       In The Inferno.

The Fraudulent live in 10 separate rings,
Where demons commit torture and horrendous things;
The souls here forever woe the day,
They let their lives go astray.
They did what they did and now deserve to be,
                                       In The Inferno

The souls in the Cocytus are frozen in ice,
For being treacherous to others is the worst possible vice;
Allowed no comfort from their cold and dark fears,
They’re not even allowed the comfort of tears.
They had a heart so cold and now eternally frozen,
                                        In The Inferno.

And now behold the greatest sinner of all,
Lucifer rests here after his great fall;
Frozen waist down in the durance of Hate,
Where now he has to face his fate.
He’s forever trapped with no means of escape,
                                        In The Inferno.

This concludes our journey through the circles of Hell,
Take heed my warning with this poem I tell;
Hope to never see me again but never forget,
Stay on the right path and do nothing you’ll regret.
Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here,
                                        In The Inferno.
